“I’m proud of CORNELL CHEME’s welcoming and inclusive environment.”
Zhu was born and raised in Suzhou, China. Growing up, she would listen to her dad talk about his work at a chemical company. This sparked her curiosity in science and engineering, particularly in biomaterials. She has learned firsthand the ups and downs of science, but by persevering, Zhu has also seen how rewarding it can be.
Zhu’s research in the Paszek Lab aims to elucidate how mechanical properties of biomaterials can regulate cellular functions. She hopes to be able to program tissue assembly through biomaterial design.
