Sierra Magazine rates Cornell "cool".
Cornell's commitment to sustainability earned it a spot in Sierra Magazine's top ten "coolest schools" as the only Ivy among this list of overachiever top ten universities. "Cool" in this context refers to Cornell's commitment to living a sustainable lifestyle. Cornell is commended for having over 300 courses related to sustainability and to the "practice what you teach" attitude to create an environment-friendly campus. Sierra editor wrote: “Spending four years in a place that grows its own organic food, runs on alternative energy, composts, limits cars and pursues goals like carbon neutral or zero-waste leaves an imprint.”
